## How the calculator works

Five inputs, one month of mail, no black box.

1. **Set your numbers** — Average job value, response rate, close rate, and gross margin — seeded with a mid-market roofing ballpark ($12,000 job, 1.25% response, 30% close, 30% margin), and every field is yours to edit for your trade.
2. **Set the volume** — Cards per month, 1 to 5,000. Mail spend comes from the published Home Render tiers — $1.35/card down to $1.05 as volume grows, printing, postage, the per-home landing page, and tracking included, no subscription. Past 5,000 cards a month it's a custom conversation.
3. **Read the ledger** — Jobs won, then revenue, gross profit, mail spend, and the net return after mail. Plus ROAS, cost per lead, cost per job, and the break-even point.

## What is real and what is yours

Only the card pricing is Mailr's number. Response rate, close rate, job value, and margin are your assumptions — the defaults are ballparks, not benchmarks, and nothing the calculator prints is a promise.

- Real: per-card cost at your monthly volume, straight off the pricing page
- Yours: response rate (static drops ballpark 0.5%, Home Render 1.25%), lead-to-job close rate, average job value, gross margin
- Expected values, not forecasts — fractional jobs are what the math gives you across a year of months
- When the numbers don't work, the page says so and shows the response rate that would break even
